What this effect does is to turn the whole image into small very colourful shapes which looks nothing like the image it started with, unless you reduce the opacity. In the iColorama application I used one of the presets within the effect area called Flat. It’s a great way to spend the time on the aeroplane and takes your mind off the screaming kids at the other end of the plane. Before I got back home to Catalonia I had worked on a couple of the photos in iColorama on my iPad. The first of these weekends was a visit to Ireland to go and see my son and grandson and the first photograph I used in this Photo art came from a walk in the Deerpark Forest in Virginia. My HDR photos created using Photomatix and then adjusted with PSE seem to work well. The beginning of story for creating these photo art images is taking the photographs using my Sony NEX 6 mirrorless camera onto different weekend photo trips. I'm having great fun using the Topaz defaults of BuzSim and Painting_oil. Mybe Stu is right in that it might depend too much on the specific image.

It was something I read written by the Topaz folks. When I come up with a preset that I feel is different enough from the one I used as a starting point I share it in a thread. I haven't seen any presets for sale, but I have downloaded some from the Action Central site you link to.

It would appear that some users are already sharing presets via Action Central at the following address ages ago

I just went through the Topaz Software Group's discussion thread and came across this. I can't guarantee this would be problem free. However, you're proceeding totally at your own risk. If you're technically inclined, you may want to try copying & pasting this info into a skeleton TPP XML file, saving it as MyScaledCartoonThinOutline.tpp and then importing it into your own version of Simplify 2.

The wrapper XML code has therefore been stripped from the following example but you could see what it was by exporting one of your own TPP files and editing it in Notepad or a similar text editor. It looks as if we could share the parameter section alone of the XML file, in text format, as in the following example of one of my TPP files but Flickr doesn't allow the posting of HTML/XML tags apart from the simple formatting ones. Obviously too much of a security risk, I suppose. I just tried pasting a text version of a TPP XML file into the Description field on one of my images on this Topaz Simplify Group's stream but when I went to save it, Flickr removed the XML code altogether. Stuartmccallum1956 edited this topic ages ago. So, I applaud your suggestion but how do we proceed? Anyone else want to chip in? We could alternatively share them by Flickr mail too but that does require that both parties wish to communicate in that way. The TPP files seem to be simple XML files and so you could present those in a text format in the image notes, I suppose. The scale and resolution of the source image can make a massive difference to the result, for example.Ĭ) whilst the mechanism is there for sharing the presets via the exporting/importing of TPP files, the question is how do we conveniently share these files on Flickr (assuming that we don't want the hassle of having to hand-write all the settings down). They are not quite as transferrable from image to image as you might imagine. Each to his/her own but just making the point.ī) In my experience, settings seem to be fairly specific to each individual image. With respect to your comment, I would be happy to share my own presets but I'd make the following points in addressing your question:Ī) I would expect a certain degree of protectionism will mean that some users are not prepared to share their secret settings, especially since some folk already seem to be selling their tutorials rather than sharing them for free. Are people here showing their settings along with images?

But I don't see that going on in this group. I see topaz has the ability to share presets.
